Eight schools in Newport News participated in a study to assess phonological awareness based on the Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening (PALS) assessment. Half of the kindergarten classes in each school were randomly assigned to Earobics classes. Scores from the Earobics classes were compared to non-Earobics classes in the same eight schools. A significantly higher percentage of students who used Earobics succeeded in achieving the challenging spring benchmark.
